What an eventful week! From participating in all the senior week activities, saying goodbyes to friends, getting a shoutout from SMCM President Tuajuanda Jordan in her speech at the Closing Convocation ceremony, and graduation, we are finally facing the beginning of the ride.
Above is a picture of the Gear Up for a Greener Earth crew, teary-eyed, after their graduation ceremony on Saturday. However, there hasn’t been much time for us to wallow in the self-pity that leaving St. Mary’s necessarily breeds (especially the final goodbye). We have been running around getting together the last of our gear (including discounts and donations from the St. Mary’s Campus Store, Ortlieb, Patagonia, MOMs Organic Market, and more!) and making the final preparations. At the time of writing, we are 36 hours from starting the trip.
We are nearing our first fundraising milestone as well. We have less than $1000 to go until we hit the halfway mark, $5,000. We urge all of our followers to please read about and consider donating to Conservation International, the cause of our trip. You can do so from this page by scrolling over the “Donate” tab and clicking on “To the Cause”. Thank you all for the continued support!
