If you are reading this, you probably already know that the Gear Up for a Greener Earth crew (Keene Kelderman, Graham Martin-Poteet, and Cyrus Chimento) is cycling cross-country from DC to Seattle this summer. What may be not quite as well known is that we are trying to raise $10,000 for the environmental non-profit organization Conservation International.
So far, we have hit over 60% of that goal. That means we have about $4,000 left to raise as we make our way to Seattle. I know that seems like a lot, but let me frame it in a more manageable way.
The whole trip will take us 55 days. We have about 40 days left. That means that we have to raise $100 for every day of the trip to make our goal. Because we are trying to raise a total of $10,000, each day represents only 1% of our overall fundraising goal.
Here are two things that you all can do to help us reach this goal:
- Pair up with a group of people to raise $100, or 1% of our fundraising goal. You could get a few friends together to be collectively responsible for 1%, or ask parents or relatives to match your donation.
- Share this message with your friends and family. By spreading the word about our trip, and thereby the cause, you are helping to further not just our fundraising goals, but also starting the equally important conversation about environmental issues that is so vital to the growth and flourishing of our society. By sharing our cause with friends or family members, you can really help Conservation International make a difference in the world.
